Quickly discover how this advanced lens implant treatment offers a powerful alternative for those who aren’t suitable for LASIK or PRK

ICL surgery is ideal for people aged 21–45 with stable prescriptions who may not be candidates for laser vision correction.

If you have thin corneas, dry eyes, or very high prescriptions, ICL may be a safer, more effective option. Your eye health must be generally good, with enough space in the eye to place the lens.

A detailed consultation and set of scans will confirm if ICL is suitable for your eyes, vision goals, and lifestyle.

ICL stands for Implantable Collamer Lens. It’s a soft, biocompatible lens placed inside your eye, between your iris and natural lens.

It corrects your vision by bending light properly onto the retina, just like glasses or contacts, but from inside the eye. The lens is implanted through a small incision during a quick, outpatient procedure.

Unlike LASIK, no corneal tissue is removed. The lens stays in place permanently but can be removed or replaced if needed. Most patients notice immediate vision improvement.

The advantages of ICL include excellent visual quality, even for people with high prescriptions, dry eyes, or thin corneas. The lens is invisible and maintenance-free.

The surgery is quick, reversible, and doesn’t involve reshaping the cornea. However, it may not be suitable for those with certain eye conditions or very small eyes. As with any eye procedure, it carries small risks. Also, ICL does not correct presbyopia, so reading glasses may still be needed later in life.

Your surgeon will discuss your best options.

ICL surgery is very safe, but like all procedures, it carries some risk. These include infection, increased eye pressure, glare or halos, and potential lens-related issues such as cataract formation or lens rotation.

Rarely, a second procedure may be needed to adjust or replace the lens. Your surgeon will perform thorough pre-op measurements to reduce risks and select the right lens for your eyes.

Choosing an experienced clinic with high-end equipment significantly reduces complications and ensures a smooth recovery.

If ICL isn’t the best choice, another option includes lens replacement surgery.

Laser procedures reshape the cornea, while lens-based options like ICL and lens replacement involve placing an artificial lens inside the eye.

Your surgeon will help you explore all options and recommend the safest and most effective one for your vision and lifestyle.

The process begins with a comprehensive eye consultation, including corneal scans and measurements to ensure the right lens fit.

On the day of surgery, anaesthetic drops are used to numb your eye. A tiny incision is made, and the foldable lens is gently inserted and positioned behind your iris. The incision heals naturally without stitches.

The procedure usually takes around 15–30 minutes per eye. You’ll return home the same day and most people see clearly within a day or two.

Most patients experience sharp, high-definition vision immediately after ICL surgery. The results are long-lasting, and the implanted lens can remain in the eye for decades.

Unlike contacts or glasses, you don’t have to maintain or replace the lens daily—it works silently in the background. ICL patients often describe a renewed sense of clarity and convenience.

Vision continues to remain stable, and if your eyes change over time, the lens can be replaced or upgraded with ease.
