Often it is, but "dry eye" covers several different problems. Meibomian gland dysfunction, for example, does not improve with ordinary artificial tears and needs different treatment. It is worth having the cause identified properly, particularly as it also affects whether you are suitable for laser surgery.
A brief one, yes — but the full diagnostic assessment takes around two hours, and dilating drops may leave your vision blurred for a few hours afterwards. It is better to plan a longer slot at the start or end of the day.
Screen work can feel tiring for the first week or two after laser vision correction, and dryness is common early on and settles. If you already have significant dry eye, that is treated first — operating on an untreated dry eye tends to produce a poor result.
