That choice is worth exercising deliberately rather than by default. If you are being driven, the A23 southbound is usually the more predictable run outside peak hours; if you rely on public transport, the A232 corridor to Sutton has far better bus and rail links. It is worth saying which you would prefer when you book.

Westwards to Spire St Anthony's: take the A232 through Wallington, Carshalton and Sutton, continue to the North Cheam junction and turn onto London Road (A24). The hospital is at 801 London Road, roughly twenty minutes. Sutton is also reachable by direct Southern rail service from West Croydon in about fifteen minutes.
Southwards to Spire Gatwick Park: take the A23 through Purley and Coulsdon, join the M23 and leave at junction 9, then follow the A217 to Hookwood. About twenty-five minutes. East Croydon also runs Gatwick Express, Thameslink and Southern services to Gatwick Airport in around fifteen minutes, with a short taxi ride to the hospital from there.
