Skin Lesion Removal
Removal of skin lesions around the eyes and face, including shave excision and surgical excision, performed by Miss Tina Khanam in London.
Overview
Understanding the Procedure
Miss Tina Khanam performs removal of skin lesions on and around the eyelids and face. As an ophthalmic surgeon, she has specialist expertise in the delicate periocular (around the eye) area where precision is essential to protect eye function and achieve an excellent cosmetic outcome.
Shave excision is suitable for raised lesions such as skin tags, papillomas, and benign moles. The lesion is shaved flat under local anaesthetic, usually leaving minimal or no scar.
Surgical excision involves cutting out the lesion with a margin of healthy tissue and closing the wound with fine sutures. This technique is used for lesions that need to be sent for histological analysis (laboratory examination) or where complete removal with clear margins is required.
All excised lesions can be sent for histopathological examination if there is any concern about the nature of the lesion.
