Treatment
Corneal Cross-Linking
Corneal cross-linking (CXL) strengthens the cornea to halt the progression of keratoconus and post-refractive ectasia using riboflavin and UV light.
Recovery
Your Recovery Journey
Recovery from cross-linking takes longer than LASIK — expect 2-3 days of discomfort and several weeks before vision returns to baseline. The corneal strengthening effect develops over 3-6 months.
Days 1-3
Moderate discomfort; bandage contact lens in place; vision blurry
- Rest, avoid screen time
Days 4-7
Bandage lens removed; discomfort settling; vision still hazy
- Avoid rubbing eyes
Weeks 2-4
Vision gradually improving; mild corneal haze may be present
- No swimming
Months 1-6
Corneal haze clearing; vision stabilising; corneal strengthening complete
