FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

With the conjunctival autograft technique Miss Khanam uses, the recurrence rate is under 5%. This is significantly lower than older techniques. If recurrence occurs, repeat surgery is possible.

The surgery is performed under local anaesthetic so you will not feel pain during the procedure. Afterwards, the eye may feel gritty and uncomfortable for 1-2 weeks as it heals.

Most patients return to work within 1-2 weeks. The eye will be red for 2-4 weeks as the graft heals. Full cosmetic recovery takes 1-3 months.
