Treatment
Laser Eye Surgery
Advanced surface laser treatments including PRK and LASEK. Ideal for patients with thinner corneas or those unsuitable for LASIK, offering excellent visual outcomes.
Recovery
Your Recovery Journey
Recovery from surface laser treatment takes a little longer than LASIK, but the long-term visual outcomes are equivalent. Understanding the recovery timeline helps you plan your treatment around your work and social commitments.
Miss Khanam provides close follow-up during the healing period and is available for direct contact if you have any concerns.
Day of surgery
A bandage contact lens is placed on the eye to protect the healing surface. You may experience watering, grittiness, and light sensitivity. Rest with eyes closed is recommended.
- No driving
- Rest with eyes closed
- Use all prescribed drops as directed
Days 1-3
The most uncomfortable period as the surface epithelium regenerates. Discomfort is managed with pain relief drops and oral medication. Keep wearing the bandage lens.
- No driving
- Limit screen time
- Avoid bright light — wear sunglasses
Days 3-5
Bandage contact lens is removed once the surface has healed. Vision begins to clear, though it may still be blurry. Discomfort should be resolving.
- Avoid dusty environments
- Continue prescribed drops
1-2 weeks
Vision improves progressively. Most patients can drive and return to work within 1-2 weeks, depending on the visual demands of their job.
- No swimming
- No eye makeup
1-3 months
Vision continues to sharpen and stabilise. Any mild haze clears. Final visual acuity is typically reached by 2-3 months.
Aftercare
Aftercare Instructions
You will receive antibiotic drops, anti-inflammatory steroid drops, and preservative-free lubricating drops. The steroid drops are tapered gradually over several weeks — it is very important to follow the schedule Miss Khanam provides.
Wear sunglasses outdoors during the healing period, as your eyes will be more sensitive to light than usual. Avoid rubbing your eyes at all times.
Attend every scheduled follow-up appointment. The healing process after surface treatments requires closer monitoring than LASIK, and Miss Khanam wants to see you regularly during the first few months.
