FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Lens replacement surgery raises many important questions, particularly around lens choice and visual expectations. Below are the questions our patients most frequently ask.

Miss Khanam welcomes all questions during your consultation — no question is too small or too detailed.

LASIK reshapes the cornea to correct vision, while lens replacement replaces the natural lens inside the eye. Lens replacement is better suited for patients over 40, those with presbyopia, or those with very high prescriptions. It also prevents future cataracts.

Lens replacement is typically recommended for patients over 40, when presbyopia (age-related loss of near focus) begins. Below 40, the natural lens still has focusing ability that would be lost. For younger patients, LASIK or ICL may be more appropriate.

Artificial lens implants are designed to last a lifetime. They do not degrade, cloud, or need replacing. Unlike the natural lens, they cannot develop cataracts. The correction is permanent.

With multifocal or EDOF lens implants, most patients achieve good vision at all distances without glasses. Some patients may still prefer reading glasses for very small print or prolonged close work in low light. Miss Khanam will discuss realistic expectations during your consultation.
